Intentional Travel

Intentional Travel, is the volunteer program of Kidz Africa.

Our Heart & Purpose

Its heart & purpose, is to offer people an opportunity to be intentional in their travel, by visiting some of Africa’s most magical and beautiful parts, namely Namibia, South Africa, Lesotho, Malawi and DRC with the purpose to come and travel parts of Africa, and then to serve and be part of the Kidz Africa Rural Development Sport & Life Skills programs, that are run in those countries.

Intentional Travel is the “vehicle” that Kidz Africa uses to set up the Service Learning, Volunteering & Tours etc, for people wanting to come on an African Experience, in the Rural and Off the Beaten Track parts of Namibia and Lesotho, and some Townships in beautiful Cape Town.

Intentional Travel serves as a way to assist in funding and generating financial support, for the Kidz Africa programs.

A life changing opportunity for people young and old, to serve in local African villages, while learning skills, in some of Africa’s most beautiful countries, with various cultures.

About the Kidz Africa Service Learning program:

This program gives you the time to re-align and soul search, have loads of fun and adventure, whilst serving in some of the poorest regions in African countries.

Kidz Africa and Intentional Travel Namibia, partners with the Spyron family, who own and run Shankara Rest Camp & Farm. This amazing family serves as the cover, support and protection, for the Kidz Africa programs and projects. Shankara Rest Camp, is the service provider for accommodation for the Intentional Travel and Kidz Africa programs.

This family, are highly respected by the local people in the Kavango region, and they are a vital part of the community. They are big on Social Justice, as is Kidz Africa, and believe in meeting the local villages social needs, as far as possible. They supply water, assist local orphans, provide jobs and Skills Development training, run a Home Clinic – basic medical care, provide emergency transport and food etc, where possible.

Shankara Rest Camp is situated on the Okavango River, in the Kavango East Region of Northern Namibia. It is on the Namibian and Angolan Northern Borders. It is slap bang in the middle of 4 villages, namely Shankara Village, Ndonga Linena Village, Kagcuva Village and Shitemo Village, which are situated next to each other, over an 8 kilometre radius.

The Kidz Africa programs take place in all of the above villages, either in the form of School Sports Development Programs, Physical Education at the schools, Coach the Coach and Teach the Teacher Programs, Adult Sports Clubs Coaching, Clothing and Food Donations, where possible.

For Church Groups/Youth Outreaches, there are Kids Church/Youth/Adult Bible and Prayer groups, that take place in addition to the sport and other programs listed above.
